Silicone Swimming

Silicone Swimming
Is there any way to preserve a silicone swim cap (that isn’t flat) with sharpie signatures on it?

I made the mistake of buying a non-flat silicone cap for olympic swimmers to sign, not thinking that the sharpie can rub off easily. Is there any way to preserve the sharpie or prevent it from coming off so easily as well as preventing the silicone to breakdown over time? I was thinking about cutting the cap flat and then framing it but I wasn’t sure if that would work. Anyone have better ideas? Thanks

Hi there!

I have the perfect thing for you! There is this stuff called Carnauba Wax…you’ve probably heard of it.
It is made for cars, but on swim caps, it’s like a sealer that will protect them. Just “paint” it in the cap, let it dry, and the sharpie won’t budge! Give it a try!

Hope that helps you :)

Here’s a link. I think you can pick it up in most hardware stores:
